I have to admit, yesterday was a bit of a tough day.  We all have them, but sometimes it is really difficult to pull yourself out of a slump and carry on.  Sometimes a little self-love is called for.  Give yourself permission to take it easy and not carry a heavy load by yourself.  Remember it's okay to spend time doing things you love. Chores and obligations will wait a day, while you re-group and find the smile that seems to have slipped a little.  We are always our own harshest critics, aren't we?

I've always loved this song, written by Charlie Chaplin for his 1936 movie Modern Times.  When I was recovering from surgery a couple of years ago, this rendition by Judy Garland was a staple on my iPod. You can find it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh57sCPjtzw.

Let's rename Thursday to SMILEday!

Smile though your heart is achingSmile even though it's breaking. When there are clouds in the skyyou'll get by.

If you smile through your fear and sorrowSmile and maybe tomorrowYou'll see the sun come shining throughFor you.

Light up your face with gladness,Hide every trace of sadness.Although a tear may be ever so nearThat's the time you must keep on tryingSmile, what's the use of crying. You'll find that life is still worthwhile-If you just smile.
